THE JAMES GANG

November James Gang
Each month, I interview authors or publishing insiders who have some form of "James" in their names or in their books. My November James Gang interviewee is multi-published author Chris Redding, who has a heroine perfect for the James Gang.
1. Let’s get the most important question asked first: Why James? E.g., Why did you pick James as the last name of your heroine in Incendiary?
I'd like to say it came to me on a vision, but most of the time it is just what I happen to type after the first name which I spend way more time on. I go for normal names without them being too run of the mill.
2. Tell us about Incendiary.

Chelsea James, captain of her local first aid squad, is trying to keep the organization afloat, but someone is sabotaging her. The squad is her father’s legacy and she feels responsible to keep it going. Jake Sweeney, back in town after a decade, is investigating the arsons he was accused of long ago. When they start again, Chelsea and Jake must join forces to defeat their mutual enemy. Jake would like to rekindle what they had before he left town, but his departure left Chelsea hurt and bewildered. To begin again, she must learn to trust him. Her life could depend on it.
That's the official blurb. I liken to two people revisiting the past and realizing you can go there, but maybe that doesn't mean you can't hope for the future.
3. Tell us about your other releases.

The next one out in print is A View to a Kilt. This is a humorous romantic suspense:
Waking up next to a dead guy can ruin your whole day.
When a wise-cracking interior decorator wants to put her past behind her, the dead body of the mayor’s son makes it pretty clear that won’t happen too easily.
A conservative former computer geek for the FBI is holding on too tightly to his past. His wife died under suspicious circumstances, and he believes the decorator has the information to solve the case. Unfortunately for him, she isn’t talking…until a series of events convinces her she needs protection--especially when her biggest secret threatens to destroy both their lives.
It is really about two people, one trying to bury the past and one trying to dredge it up. See a pattern? I guess I hold onto my past.
4. Note from Marcia -- Chris has several other books available through Amazon's Kindle store:

Check the "Books" page on Chris's website (www.ChrisReddingAuthor.com) for purchase links for all of her books.
5. Is there a core story and/or a theme(s) in your books?
First it is always about two people. I love romance and happy endings. I enjoy the fish-out-of-water, but in these two instances, it is all about the past. Our past is so important to our future and it can hold us back or make us more determined.
6. Do you have a favorite hero and/or heroine in your books and why?
The book after A View to a Kilt is Blonde Demolition. The hero is a conflicted and tortured Trey McCrane. I loved writing him.
7. What do you enjoy most about being an author?
I actually enjoy the editing. Sounds odd, but I have a chance to take a product that I have done all I can with and incorporate someone else's suggestions.
8. How do you promote your books and your author brand?
Social media mainly. I blog, and I'm on Facebook and Twitter. I try to connect with people as much as possible.
9. What is your next project?
As I said, Blonde Demolition is out next. No publication date yet, but it was a story I had a lot of fun writing and it is dedicated to some special people.
10. Do you have a bit of wisdom you’d like to impart or a favorite quote?
"Life is what happens when you are busy making other plans." -- John Lennon.
Sometimes I go in a direction and things don't work out. If it happens a few times in a row, I stop and try to figure out what the universe is trying to tell me.
